Closure of the Hall

In the 1970s, the hall for the production of rolling stock closes. Over a decade later, the Apparatenbouw department also shuts down. With the closure of the Werkspoor factory, an illustrious chapter of Utrecht’s industrial history comes to an end, and many of the former factory halls in the area disappear. However, the former Apparatenhal is spared from demolition, and after years of temporary use and vacancy, the renovation into the current Werkspoorkathedraal begins in 2015.
