Renovation and Rietveld
The Werkspoorkathedraal undergoes a renovation with a strong focus on preserving the old elements and details. Instead of filling the space with new constructions, the emptiness is celebrated. As a result of this thoughtful transformation, MONK Architects is awarded the Rietveld Prize in 2017 for their work on the Kathedraal. The Rietveld Prize is a prestigious architectural award that recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of architecture and design.
